The only drug-related scare tactic used by public schools that actually made a real impression on me was seeing the effects of meth (losing teeth, I saw a picture of some girl who’s nose collapsed or something like that)
All of my other opinions about drugs and which ones I would or wouldn’t try were formed entirely on my own. I think that’s the case with a lot of people. I’m not saying drug education isn’t important. It is, there’s just too much propaganda involved so IDEALLY it should be reformed but probably won’t. But the fact is everyone is going to make their own decisions and I think drug education programs sometimes drive kids to try them because they don’t believe what they’re being taught or develop an interest despite the information they’re being fed.
The same thing goes for sex education, I think. Especially abstinence-only sex education, which is the most fucked up and ineffective tactic there is.
